Best Ice Cream Places in Philadelphia
Although it is cold outside, I can’t help but eat ice cream. Call me crazy, but the cold-weather- ice-cream combo doesn’t affect me. In fact, I crave it more! As someone who enjoys this dairy treat so much, I took the time to go to the best ice cream parlors in the city and report them, so you can go too:
The Franklin Fountain

I swear this old-fashioned establishment offers some of the best ice cream I have tried. The variety of flavors will make sure each person who goes there will have something to eat. From honeycomb to almond cherry butter cream to a classic vanilla. What I personally like the most about this place is that the ice cream is creamy and sweet without being overwhelming, even when you add toppings like hot fudge or sprinkles.
Jewtina Tips: Order Mt. Vesuvius with either honey comb or vanilla ice cream! It has brownie bites, hot fudge, and whipped cream!
Teassert Bar

Rolled ice cream has become a sensation, especially in Philadelphia. In fact, many locations in Chinatown are serving it! One of my go-to places is Teassert Bar because of the flavor options and unlimited toppings. You can choose from the menu or make your own ice cream flavor. Its red bean is surprisingly good, being sweet and creamy, and you can’t skip its assorted toppings!
Jewtina Tip: Chocolate lovers will appreciate Ferrero Rocher with Pocky sticks. It has Nutella, peanuts and wafers!
Big Gay Ice Cream

Big Gay Ice Cream started as a food truck in New York City, and now has its own location in Philadelphia. The parlor is everything you could dream of, and more. Each creation is the perfect mix of salty and sweet, the Salty Pimp in particular. It is a simple vanilla ice cream with dulce de leche (confection prepared by heating condensed milk) topped with hard-shell chocolate sauce and salt. I am personally a hot fudge kind of gal and the one at Big Gay Ice Cream literally tastes like brownie batter.
Jewtina Tips: Bring a camera with you to the location. The rainbow decoration and the art on the wall will make the perfect Instagram post.
Sweet Box Bakery

Earlier in 2017, edible cookie dough made a debut on social media. Places like Dö in New York City were taking Instagram by storm. I was sad that I couldn’t go all the way to NYC to satisfy my cookie dough craving until I saw that Sweet Box started to offer this treat. I ordered its chocolate chip flavor, but all of them looked equally as delicious. It offers birthday cake, Oreo and even white chocolate chip macadamia. The downside? The place it is a little small, so we had to take our treat to go.
Jewtina Tips: Buy an extra portion of cookie dough to go. It makes the perfect at home snack.

As I mentioned before, rolled ice cream is a sensation in Philadelphia. One of the most popular joints is Sweet Charlie’s, and the reason behind it is the fun of watching the ice cream being prepared. The options and flavors of this parlor make this the perfect place to eat ice cream. I enjoy making my own flavor, normally picking a yogurt base and adding Nutella and graham crackers. I also love its So Cal ice cream that has acai, banana, honey, and coconut. Sometimes ice cream can be healthy, right?
